Left Main Zip has all snack items packed in small packets for Amudhan, his water bottle
Right Main Zip - medicines(basic medicines for all of us), small toy for Amudhan, extra set of dress for Amudhan

Stop 1 :
Jakhu Temple - Jakhu temple located on Jakhu hills of Shimla is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
We have to stop our vehicle down and take the local cabs there to reach the Jakhu Temple.
The place has a historical significance it is believed that Lord Hanuman stopped at this place to rest for a while he was on quest for sanjeevni herb. He was sent by Lord Rama from Lanka to cure unconscious Lakshmana. The belief also says that the hilltop is flattened because of his weight.
A huge 108 ft orange colored Hanuman statue stands elegantly and boldly. He also has the luxury to see entire Shimla as he stands right at the top. From every important corner down in Shimla , Jakhu can be seen graciously looking at his people.
There is a seperate Shrine for Lord Hanuman where pooja rituals are done daily. Bright Orange colored dome grabbed my heart and It was a treat to eyes.
Well there is a special add on to this temple. Monkeys in this temple are considered to be the descendants of Lord Hanuman and this is their happy stayplace. They are very naughty monkeys and they are familiar for taking away specs or coolers from whoever wears them.
Our driver had warned us already to remove our specs. As we were happily posing for the instax picture , a monkey had already climbed on my Dad's shoulder and grabbed away his specs. When enquired with a localite , he said we can throw a channa packet to the monkey and it will throw back the specs. To our surprise , the monkey did not run anywhere , it was sitting on a roof looking at us naughtily with the specs. After some 15 mins , Siva got a channa packet and gave to a local person there. As he threw the channa to the monkey, it caught the channa in one hand and threw the specs back to us. All of us bursted into laughter looking at the clever monkey.
A visit to the temple and the lawn nearby and with few photographs with the Bright Orange Hanumar , we started our walk back down the steps.
Stop 2:
Kufri Horse Ride
Kufri is seemingly a beautiful place during winter. The famous activity there is to take a horse ride for 30 mins which takes us to the Kufri Peak. I don't know about others , but for me personally this ride was not at all a pleasing one. The route uphill for the horse ride is a rugged stretch with small rocks and stones all through. We have to leave our fate to the horses is what I could say as far as this ride is concerned.
Whichever travel blog we read , whomever we interact for knowing Shimla's tourist sights , everything talks about Kufri. As soon as we reach the destination , there will be lots of local guides who will push us to purchase the horse ride tickets and lift us to make us sit on the horse's back.
Between nowhere you will be sitting on the horse's back and will be riding through a rugged, swampy, muddy road stewn with stones all way. 500 Rs per person up and down. If you are a group of four , two horses will be tied together and two other horses will follow them. There will be one person who walks by the side of the group to direct the horses.
Amudhan was riding along with his Dad. He really needs a special applause as he rightly followed every word of his Dad and enjoyed the ride as much as he can. Although he was scared, he tried to hold on with it.
Posture matters , you have to sit firmly and get a strong hold. It was shit scary with a number of horses rushing on its way , hitting each other and finding their way. Although the horses are very well trained to walk in these routes , we being the first timers , it's difficult to adjust to the journey. The horses randomly walk till till edge of the path, the next step if it takes, we will be rolling down in the mountains , but it stops at the edge correctly. Well after this rugged ride , we reached the peak which had few street side like shops serving momos , noodles , pakodas and similar snacks.
One activity here which Amudhan enjoyed the most is the 'Telescope'. There are 10 important view points which they focus through the Telescope for us to have a look. It's a paid activity which comes at a cost of 200 Rs per person. The guide at the Telescope point showed us 10 spots. We saw the China border, natural hot water springs, the palace of King of Patiala, few sacred temples and the richest village of Shimla.
We came back buying fried channa dhal and masala peanuts packed in cone papers - the traditional packaging style.
Washrooms here need to be really taken care of. It was a very unpleasant experience using the washrooms.
Manali is fondly called as 'Land of Momos' by the travellers. Every shop will serve you hot momos with their own flavour and touch.
Momos - A more Indianised version of the Chinese dim sums, the dish called momos is a dish made with the thin refined flour sheet filed with a preparation of intricately chopped vegetables inside.
We had some fried momos matched with hot red chutney served with hot chai.
The ride back again on the horse was comparatively smooth than the earlier. With some photographs to remember this terrific experience, we then started to our next stop point.
Stop 3: Himalayan National Park
A very neat and a cute zoo with Reindeer, Himalayan Thor, Golden Bears, Leopard and few other different birds..
I would like to talk a bit more about these three.
The Reindeer - With big horns in its own defined shape , this animal was walking along with us, we walked in our pathway and they walked inside the gated cage. As we walked hand in hand together, the animal also happily posed with us for pics.
The Three Golden Bears - I literally fell in love with them. No doubt why teddy bears are girls fondest toy. Although they were gigantic , they were so so cute as they walked and rolled and had their own comfortable time. These three wonderful beings reminded me of the famous fairytale 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'
The story goes like this.. Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks. She went for a walk in the forest. Pretty soon, she came upon a house. She knocked and, when no one answered, she walked right in.At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge which belonged to the three Bears... I wanted to tell this story as lively as I can to Amudhan as fairytales are special part of childhood. I was waiting for one good occasion to tell this story and now it is..
Leopard -
"Walk like you are the King" , they say.. My God, as the Leopard walked from one corner to the other corner , I could literally sense the power in the walk. Now I know, Lion is the King of the jungle. But this Leopard's walk will definitely make him the King if there is am election now. Watch it yourself and let me know if I am wrong.
Amudhan had a very happy time visiting the zoo.
Out from the zoo, we got some fresh Green Apples and Kiwis for a bite and got into our car to travel back. We had planned to visit the Mall Road tonight. We forgot it's a Saturday Night and started to the Mall Road. There was a heavy traffic jam and the time showed 2 hours for a 20 min ride. So we decided to go back to our stayplace. Getting food parcels and ordering food for the table needs lot of patience. Here they start preparing food only after getting the orders. So we should aaramse give 50 minutes for every meal we plan with th hotel, May it be for parcel or for dine in.
We just randomly stopped in the available hotel and ordered some parathas, egg Curry, Panneer curry and Rice.
We had our dinner in the hall with the heaters on.
Two long days of travel and tripping needs a good night's sleep. We dozed off with the comfortable quilt covering all over for a happy sleep.
