A trip to celebrate the 'Bridal Veil'

October 3 - A special day in Life. We planned for a short trip to the below tourist spots in New Zealand.

Its a romantic date plan :P (Kaalam pona Kaalathula Romance romba mukkiyam nu neenga kekalam.. !)

Kawhia Hot Water Beach - Bridal Veil Waterfalls  - Hamilton Gardens

But yes, we have to celebrate the 'Love of Life' every minute.

This trip is to celebrate the day that placed a Bridal veil on me and as a coincidence we are visiting the famous 'Bridal Veil Falls' as a part of our travel.

"Sometimes I look at you and I wonder How I got to be so Lucky"

"The more you celebrate in Life , The more there is in Life to celebrate"

We started from home at around 1.30 . There was no traffic so we happily drove from Auckland to Hamilton. It was a pleasant drive. It was our first trip for the Spring and the place was Greeny and Lively. Two new members of our trip - GoPro and Bluetooth Speaker :P

We decided to drive to Cambridge a 20 minute drive from Hamilton to enjoy the vibrant colours of the Spring blossoms. "Flowery Drive" - The drive itself was so soothing. It was all colorful throughout the way , there were beautiful houses each one adorned with lovely cherry blossoms and many other Flowery Trees. It was literally a treat to the eyes and it was a FairyTale Travel , I would say.We stopped at a place to grab my favourite Real Fruit Icecream.

Happiness Overloaded

We went to Shakespeare Street , Cambridge as I have read in some blog that the place is the best in Spring. But unfortunately , we did not find any blossoming tree. So to compensate the disappointment , Guess what we did.. ! We bought a big platter which had Fish Fries , Hotdog , FrenchFries and Chicken Kebab. Well meal is ready now , what about the dining place.. ?

'Namakku soru dhan mukkiyam' moment

I had seen a beautiful road where there were  big Cherry Blossom  Trees and levelled Lawns so I decided to go back to that location , park our car and have our beasty snack. I would say It was dreamy , with Baby Pink Flowers blossoming in the huge tree , as the air was blowing gently , the pinky petals gently kissed my cheeks.

"We dream in Colours borrowed from Nature"

We happily sat and had our snack , took some cutie photographs using our GoPro Man and started our travel to the destined Location - Kawhia Hot Water Beach.

Colourful Vibes

I had made a big round of analysis as usual before booking the stay place and zeroed in the 'Waterfront Studio' from the Kawhia Beachside S-cape Holiday Park.

The place was serene with a picturesque waterfront , cozy beds , beautiful flowery trees , Outdoor Dining Area , A Royal Bamboo Beach Chair.. The room was a self contained one and had all the essentials.

We quickly refreshed ourselves with a glass of Tropical Green Tea and changed our attire and drove to the Hot water beach which was less than 5 kms from our place. We took the Shovels from our residency.

There is a small Sand Dune which we should cross an uphill and a downhill walk for 7 to 8 minutes and then here we are - to the soft Black Sanded Magnificent Ocean. There were already 8 to 10 pools that were already dug by people who had visited earlier.

Walk up the Sand Dune - Shovels to dig the Hot Water pool

A bit of information about the Hot Water Beach :

Hot Water Beach is the result of underground Geothermal activity 2km beneath the surface. That means , at low tide , you can bring your own shovel , dig your own personal naturally hot water spa pool.

I went from one pit to another to check the warmth of water , finally a little Girl who came with her family helped me choosing the best one. It was closest to the Sea and well dug and neatly banked.

Hot Pools and the Lovely Backdrop

Being born in a Beach Town , I am a biggggg fan of beaches . And that too this one is more special - Cold Air , Hot Water , Gentle Sound of the Waves and Sunset - The Combination itself is heavenly.

So it is already 6 o clock now and the sunset time that day is 7.30 PM . I happily laid down in the warm water and closed my eyes to enjoy the serenity.

The best kind of pillow in the world is the one with a Heartbeat :)

After an hour of complete bliss , here comes the sunset view. There were no clouds and it was a clear sky. Nature is beautiful - As the big hot Orange Ball was taking a dip in the Sea , the colours changed to red , yellow and orangish shades. Wow , It was awesome.. Me and Vicky could nt believe that these kind of places exist.

After a refreshing soak in the Hot Water Spa pool

We then started back to our stayplace. I was super hungry , I knew that we will be so hungry after a dip in water like this. I have already prepared some yummy Mughal Chicken Curry and Chapathis for dinner. We quickly showered and changed to night suits. Heated the dinner in the Microwave and happily ate.

"Still.. Nothing beats a home-cooked meal.."

Then some video calls to family showing the places, talking to Amudhan , seeing videos of Charmika and the other usual stuffs.

One of the worst decision of the trip was the movie that we chose to watch for the night. 'Silence' was the latest movie that was released in OTT that weekend. Such a boring pointless Movie :(

We just walked around our stay area and there were cute Campervans decorated with party lights and people were enjoying in their own ways..

Sleep Time....

Day 2 :

"Enjoy your Life Sip by Sip"

Tea Time Kushi

We got up a little late only , freshened up. Vicky made some Green Tea and I made some Mocha Coffee and we both walked out to sit in the Bamboo Beach Chairs.

A pleasant Morning could not ask for more. We had our morning chit chats in this beautiful backdrop. After a hot shower , Its breakfast time.

Slip between the Cup and the Lip - Captured :P

Toasted Breads with Garlic Butter , Some Fresh mandarins , Some roasted Museli and milk made our breakfast table. We took the plates out to enjoy the outdoor dining. The weather was lovely as we enjoyed the wholesome breakfast.

We then packed our things and it was already 11 o clock. We dropped our room keys and started our travel to the 'Bridal Veil Falls'. The road to the Falls was very rugged but not a difficult one. Remember our another travel partner - the Bluetooth speaker , we played some good Romantic numbers during the travel. Ours is a old model car and you know what , we dont have an inbuilt music player:P

The journey was curvy-curvy and it was approximately a one hour drive. We reached the destination. There were quite a few number of cars and the place is accessible only through self vehicles.

Once you arrive at the car park, a quick ten minute walk through native bush brings you to the top of the falls. The path takes you through dense bush filled with New Zealand ferns.  You’re separated from the lip of the falls by only a small, wooden fence and can feel the cool mist blowing off the rushing water. There are excellent views down the entire length of the falls.

"Sometimes FALLing can make you beautiful"

Bridal Veil Falls

A waterfall so perfectly falling for 55m that an impression of a veil is createdIt’s a beautiful area of New Zealand, with vast expanses of green, rolling hills.

There is a wooden Bench in front of the Waterfall , we sat there for 30 minutes and we were showered with cool sprays of water which came from the downpour of Falls into the water below. This is the best place to get oneself rejuvenated and start a fresh beginning when we are in a lost or confused state. This was much needed for me , though I was mentally stable, the thought that I had nt seen Amudhan since the last one year was driving me crazy. I wanted to be back on my shoes and this natural boost made me equipped enough for the remaining journey of mine.

Well , after a rejoicing walk we came back to the carpark and started our travel to Hamilton. On the way back I was trying to choose some Lunch spots in Hamilton area. Whenever I plan trips in India , I would plan the Itenary around the Food joints only as my husband is a big Foodie. I dont enjoy trying different food menu but I love all varieties of Indian Food. After a big big search and reading hundreds of review , I finalised on a restaurant.

We reached the Hamilton city and started strolling down the elegant and posh street which had a lot of restaurants. There will be menus stuck outside each restaurant with price , which is an advantage for people like us. Though I had already selected a restaurant , we enjoyed reading menus from each one and decided to land in a 'Thai Restaurant' . We ordered two dishes , I seriously dont remember their names but both of them were floating in a big bowl of soup.My husband enjoyed the meal but I dint :(

Meal Time
After the meal session , we went to a sitting area overlooking a big lake. It was sunny and we enjoyed the relaxing seat there with a triple layered Coconut Sundae.

"Life is more like Ice Cream... Enjoy it before it melts.. "

A Sunny 'Sundae - Sunday' Afternoon

Final part of the trip : We then travelled to the Hamilton Gardens. It is a big splendid Garden. There are several gardens picturising each country.
The manmade attempt of taming nature, of bringing order to the chaos, of controlling outcomes and directing the senses. It appeals to my inner self which is longing for structure, planning and orderliness.

Indian Gardens at the backdrop

So much beauty, carefully placed, in perfect harmony with each other and the environment. The buzzing bees, the colourful butterflies, the chirping of the birds. For me, a walk in the park is not just refreshing, it is indeed invigorating.

Italian Rennaisance

Besides the spreading lawns, the woodlands, the valley walks, the cemetery, the pavilions and the nursery, there is a true gem at its centre.

Adjoining the slowly flowing Waikato River is a flight of smaller gardens, the Fantasy Collection, each one of them fully enclosed and self-contained.

Walls, fences and hedges surround these smaller gardens, that are connecting seamlessly into each other while each one of them is also taking the visitor back to a central courtyard, like petals on a blossom.

Poached Egg Yolk Flowers

After roaming around the Garden for quite a while now we had a short nap in the lawn under the gentle warmth of the sun.
On the way back we fuelled with hot burgers and a drink and happily travelled home.
